Tips for Jackson Hole Visitors

Skiing/Boarding Without Breaking The Bank

  • Saving on lift tickets: Jackson Hole Mountain Resort tickets can cost $159. At Snow King, lift tix are $59 and Grand Targhee lift tix are $109. Buying online in advance can save you money, and week days are often cheaper than weekend/holidays.

  • Saving on accommodations: In the winter, staying in downtown Jackson can be more affordable ($150/night) than out at Teton Village, the base lodge at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort ($350+ per night). Airbnbs and Vrbos on the western side of Teton Pass are even more affordable especially with larger groups (4+). For the more adventurous, Grand Targhee offers camping at the base of the mountain for those with camper vans.

  • Saving on rentals: In the winter, many hotels and vacation rentals offer shuttles to and from the airport, as well as to the mountain resorts, so a rental car may not be necessary unless you are going to Grand Targhee. If you bring your own gear, the airlines charge $25-$50 per check bag while renting skis/boots/poles etc can cost about $80 per day.

  • Saving on food: Happy hour specials and aprés-ski deals can offer you a more affordable way to eat out. During the shoulder seasons there are $10 lunch specials at many places in town. Cooking some meals at your vacation rental is another way to save on food.
